in yaakov’s blessing yehuda is compared to a lion, the king of beasts, indicating a royal destiny for his descendants. a huge lion is watching what is happening in his allotment including a part of the judean desert. the sky-blue strands of his mane send us back to the traditional colours of the tribe’s banner uniting the throne of glory with its material manifestation.
